North By Northeast

Today, whilst sitting in BeanScene, a Scottish cafe chain, I noticed that they advertised their nachos as "the best nachos this side of Mexico." Now, I ask you, gentle reader, what side of Mexico? I don't know much about either Scotland or Mexico, but I think there's at least an ocean in between? Are you allowed to just pick a place and pick a side? Mexico is sort of long and wide. In that case, I have the best fingernails this side of Lebanon.
And whether you want to go north or east, I'm pretty sure that Texas is where you would find the better nachos, "this side of Mexico." Especially since nachos, though invented in Mexico (on the border), is pretty much a Tex-Mex creation and tradition. It's a snack food made popular by Monday Night Football, people, and that makes it pretty far removed from Scotland. I'm on to you and your lies, BeanScene- your lies and your unreasonably overpriced cocoa.
