People of Scotland have no sense of urgency. Had Y2K actually been a legit crisis, I have a feeling that the entire country, if not the kingdom, would have been wiped out by now while I'd still be crouched in my basement eating Progresso soup and Spam. (We would have rationed our food out so carefully that we'd survive for at least another 2 years past today.) Today, our toilet paper ran out. I waited a couple of hours to see what would happen since I had already bought the papers once (the blue fancy ones, if you'd recall) Mags had gotten them last time, and well, Jacqueline had once confessed that she'd never pitched in for the tp. I was interested in seeing what would happen. But, being the busy girl that I am, I had places to go and people to see, so I headed out. On my way back home, however, I was concerned about the off chance that I'd not have tp waiting, so I went into a convenience store to buy some. (I had thought that the cheap supermarket would've been closed already- turned out it wasn't.) I grabbed a pack of what I thought were the cheapest tp, just 99p. As I was about to pay, however, it turned out that it was actually 2.19 pounds. Yeah. I had accidentally purchased expensive toilet paper again. This whole ordeal was a lot harder to master than expected. But whatever, I like living the high life. Anyway, as I walked home, a pack of four rolls of toilet paper tucked under my arms, I thought of how ridiculous I looked. And how there'd probably be paper waiting for me already when I got back since I'd left for so long. Silly me, I thought, overpaying for tp I didn't need.
Turns out I had put too much faith in my flatmates. There were no rolls waiting for me. My rolls had saved the day. My flat had apparently gone without for at least seven hours. And I'm sure that someone had to go sometime within those hours. Maybe they all have secret stashes saved up for a rainy day that I don't know about... nevertheless, these people need for urgency in their lives. Things cannot just run out, people, we have to take action!
